Just a few miles south of the Seven Mile Bridge on U.S. 1 lies the entrance to Bahia Honda State Park. It's a beautiful place to stretch your legs, enjoy the beach, or take a walk up on the old bridge that connected the Keys in the days of Henry Flagler's railway.
We stopped at the state park to check it out. It was right at noon on a Monday and the line of cars to get in was insane! We thought we were about to have a repeat of the causeway to Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, but eventually the line moved on. I guess everyone decided to arrive at the same time!
We parked near the end and walked the path to the top of the bridge where there were great views of the area. We also walked briefly along the beach area before having a picnic lunch.
Here are some pictures.
We didn't stay too long because we wanted to get to Key West in time to visit Fort Zachary Taylor state park later in the afternoon.
