The Truman Little White House Museum in Key West

Our second famous person's house tour took us to the Truman Little White House in Key West. It is the only Presidential Museum in the state of Florida.  It was originally built as naval officer housing in the 1890s, but was converted for presidential use later on.  President Harry S Truman used it the most, spending 175 days of his presidency in residence.

You can only do a guided tour of the house, and only take pictures in one room. The tour is very good, setting the stage so you can immerse yourself into life in the late 1940s when the Trumans were there.  You can get tickets individually or as part of a package with the trolley or conch train.  Because we were walking the day we visited, we just purchased our tickets on the lawn, and we only had to wait about 15 minutes for the next tour to begin (tours last approximately 35 minutes).

The grounds are beautiful, and there is a 1950 Presidential limousine parked in the driveway.

Here are a few photos from inside the one room we were allowed to take pictures in.

And here is the wax statue of President Truman.

The house is classic Florida with plenty of airy sitting spaces.  We would recommend taking the time to visit if you are ever in Key West.
